Evocative is an internet infrastructure company that owns and operates data centers in metros across North America, Europe and Asia. It sells colocation space and power in its own buildings, dedicated bare metal servers, and a network backbone that links its sites to each other and to public clouds. Evocative says it has grown through both organic expansion and acquisition, and counts 25 years in the business. Its own material describes a backbone reaching 16 key metros, with Tier-1 carriers at each site. The company staffs its facilities with its own on-site engineers and technical support rather than contracting that work out, and lists named data centers in Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta, Phoenix, Boston, Seattle, Reston and the New York area.

What they offer

Colocation. Customizable power, space and connectivity in Evocative's own data centers, backed by redundant power and cooling, on-site security, and 24-hour access and monitoring. The Atlanta flagship is a 36,000-square-foot Tier-3 facility with N+1 electrical redundancy, sited outside flood and seismic zones. Network, IP transit, Cloud Connect and Cross Connect services move traffic within a site, between sites and out to public cloud platforms, with Tier-1 carriers present at each location.

Cloud and IaaS. Evocative Metal is dedicated bare metal compute you rent by the server, with single tenancy so no other customer shares the hardware. Servers come in small, medium and large sizes, run the operating system you choose from Windows, Ubuntu, RHEL or VMware, and support bring-your-own-license. As of the 2023 datasheet, bare metal is offered in the Silicon Valley and New York City metros, a narrower footprint than the colocation sites.

  • Certifications vary by site. Evocative states that many of its data centers adhere to HIPAA, PCI DSS, SSAE 18, SOC 2 Type 2 and ISAE 3402. Confirm the specific certifications at the specific building you would use.
