Opti9 is a managed cloud provider that works across private cloud, AWS and hybrid setups, with data protection built on Veeam as its specialty. It says it came together when three established companies merged, and it counts more than 40 years of combined experience.
It presents itself as vendor-agnostic, which here means it will put a workload in its own private cloud, in AWS or in a mix, depending on what suits the customer. It has data centers and offices in the United States and Canada, and it states that its own Tier III data centers are Canadian owned and operated. That matters to buyers with Canadian data residency requirements.
Best for
- Organizations that must keep data in Canada, or in a region they choose.
- Companies that run Veeam and would like to hand its day-to-day ownership to someone else.
- Small and midsize businesses that face real attack risk and have no security staff.
- Enterprises running private cloud, public cloud, software services and their own data centers that want one accountable provider, under one contract.
- Organizations that know they need to move to the cloud and do not know where to start.
- Buyers in regulated fields who need a provider already set up around HIPAA, PCI DSS, SOC and ISO 27001.
What they offer
Cloud and IaaS. Cloud servers on VMware, running Windows, Linux or bare metal. Two tiers of dedicated private cloud are available for customers who need more performance or isolation than shared cloud provides. Hybrid IT management puts your private cloud, public cloud, software services and on-premises data centers under one provider, with one master agreement, one service level agreement and one business associate agreement. Its AWS practice covers migration, managed operations and architecture reviews.
Colocation. Colocation is listed among its core infrastructure services. The documents available for this page include no dedicated colocation sheet, so ask for detail.
Backup and Disaster Recovery. Off-site backup as a service that Opti9 fully manages, disaster recovery that extends your Veeam environment into its cloud, recovery built natively on AWS, and backup for Microsoft 365 that can run as often as every five minutes. It will also assess an existing Veeam environment, or take over running it entirely. Observr is its own monitoring tool that watches Veeam backup systems for signs of ransomware.
Storage and security. Object storage compatible with Amazon S3 that works with Veeam, Commvault, Cohesity and Rubrik. For security it resells a managed detection and response service from Field Effect, aimed at smaller businesses.

Proof
Opti9 states that more than 2,500 customers use its services. On the Veeam side it holds Veeam Accredited Service Partner status, says Veeam has given it its cloud and service provider award in more than one year, and says it has two Veeam Vanguards on staff. On the AWS side it holds Premier Tier status as a services provider, along with several AWS competencies.
For its cloud server platform it states 99.982 percent uptime, which it translates as about 1.6 hours of downtime a year, with N+1 redundancy.
These figures are Opti9's own. The case studies available for this page name their customers, so none are used here.
Good to know
- The managed detection and response service is another company's platform that Opti9 resells. Ask who responds when an alert fires.
- Opti9's documents disagree in places, including the list of cities where it has recovery sites. Confirm the locations that matter to you.
- A client portal called OptiXdashboard gives you visibility into the services it manages for you.
- The material does not name the three companies that merged to form Opti9.

How buying works
The store is the easy part. Staying on the account is the job.
Anyone can show you logos. The reason to buy here is what happens on install night, and on the ticket you open nine months later.
- 01
Build your quote list
Add services and companies as you shop. No form stands between you and the shelf.
- 02
We bring back real options
A person shops the bench against your addresses, then walks you through what fits and what does not.
- 03
We handle the order and install
Paperwork, site survey, install dates, cutover night. You get one thread, not five vendors.
- 04
We stay on your account
Same team for moves, adds, tickets and the next renewal. That is the part everyone else drops.
