Calero makes software that tracks and controls what a large organization spends on telecom, mobile devices and software subscriptions. A services team backs the software. It says it has done this for more than 30 years and manages technology spending for more than 3,000 clients.

The idea is one platform for three kinds of bill that usually live apart: carrier invoices, mobile plans and devices, and SaaS licenses. Calero loads the invoices, checks them against inventory and contracts, and can pay the vendors for you. It sells to mid-sized and large organizations, and its material is current, dated 2024 to 2026.

Best for

  • Banks and financial firms managing telecom, mobile, software and market data costs together, often after an acquisition.
  • Companies with thousands of mobile devices across countries that want ordering, support and billing in one place.
  • Organizations that want a full list of the software subscriptions in use, including ones IT never approved, before budgeting or a merger.
  • Government bodies and manufacturers that want invoices reconciled automatically and renewals prepared in advance.
  • Businesses with leased data center space that want those bills broken down by rent, power and cross connects.
  • Finance teams that want one party to pay technology vendors in many countries and currencies.

What they offer

Telecom Expense Management. Inventory, ordering, invoice processing, dispute handling and reporting for a global telecom estate. Managed Bill Pay takes over payment entirely, in 215 countries and territories and more than 165 currencies.

Managed Mobility. Management of the mobile fleet from purchase to retirement: an ordering portal backed by an order desk, a service desk, expense management and device management. Calero counts 4.5 million devices under management.

Calero also sells SaaS management, which finds applications through your sign-on and security systems and tracks how much they are used. It offers data center cost management, an integration engine called ConnectIQ that it maintains for you, and an AI assistant that answers questions about invoices in plain language.

The catalog lists Calero under Business Connectivity and Cloud Phone Systems as well. The documents available for this page describe Calero managing the cost of those services, and none describes it selling them.

Proof

Calero states ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 certification and GDPR compliance. One case study adds alignment with SOC 2 Type 2.

Its customer stories withhold the names.

A United States bank with about 1,000 locations. After an acquisition its old platform could not show what telecom assets it had. With Calero it automated more than half of its invoice collection and has loaded more than 1,900 invoices from more than 30 vendors.

A software company serving intelligence agencies, with 2,400 devices. It had outgrown its mobility provider. Calero answered a 247-question security review and moved it to a managed mobility platform in 30 days.

A media software company with 10,000 devices in 17 countries. Calero now manages more than 16,000 mobile subscriptions for it, with about 1,300 orders a month.

A property services firm with 45,000 software users. Within days of connecting, Calero showed how Microsoft 365 and Adobe licenses were used. The firm changed the tier of more than 2,000 licenses and removed more than 80,000.

These figures and accounts are Calero's own.

Good to know

  • The AI assistant draws on telecom and mobility expense data for now, and Calero says it does not train on customer data.
  • Support is described as delivered by staff in your region who know the local carriers and rules.
  • Calero builds and maintains the integrations to your other systems, so check which of your systems are already on its list.
  • This is a product for complex estates. A company with one carrier and a few dozen lines is unlikely to need it.

How buying works

The store is the easy part. Staying on the account is the job.

Anyone can show you logos. The reason to buy here is what happens on install night, and on the ticket you open nine months later.

  1. 01

    Build your quote list

Add services and companies as you shop. No form stands between you and the shelf.

  2. 02

    We bring back real options

A person shops the bench against your addresses, then walks you through what fits and what does not.

  3. 03

We handle the order and install

Paperwork, site survey, install dates, cutover night. You get one thread, not five vendors.

  4. 04

    We stay on your account

Same team for moves, adds, tickets and the next renewal. That is the part everyone else drops.
