Lightpath is a fiber network operator that owns and builds a 100 percent fiber-optic network for business connectivity and hosted voice. The distinction it draws is that it owns the fiber rather than reselling someone else's, and it will extend the network to reach a building that is not on it yet, which is why it emphasizes building to where a customer needs to go. On that network it sells the full range of connectivity, from a dedicated internet circuit to dark fiber a customer lights itself, along with managed services such as voice and security. It runs its own monitoring and network management, with local sales and engineering and a customer portal. For a buyer, Lightpath is a fiber provider that controls the network end to end within its footprint.
Best for
- Businesses in Lightpath's fiber footprint that want connectivity from a provider that owns the network rather than reselling it.
- Organizations that need high, scalable bandwidth, including large point-to-point capacity between sites or data centers.
- Companies that need fiber to a building not yet served, where Lightpath will build to reach it.
- Buyers who want connectivity and managed voice or security from the same fiber provider.
A business outside Lightpath's build area, or one that needs national or global reach in one contract, should confirm coverage first, since Lightpath's strength is its own regional fiber.
What they offer
Business Connectivity. A 100 percent fiber network offering dedicated internet access, Ethernet services including point-to-point E-Line and multipoint E-LAN, wavelengths for high-capacity links, and dark fiber for customers who want to run their own optical equipment. Cloud Connect and Data Center Connect provide private paths to public clouds and data centers, and managed WiFi, optical encryption and DDoS protection are available on top.
Cloud Phone Systems. Hosted voice and Microsoft Teams Direct Routing carried over the same Lightpath fiber, so voice and connectivity come from one provider.

Good to know
- Lightpath owns and operates its fiber within a specific footprint. The first question is whether your addresses are on or near its network, since it may need to build to reach them.
- Because it owns the network, it runs its own monitoring and support. Ask about the service commitment and the local engineering coverage for your area.
- Product names here are the company's own material.

How buying works
The store is the easy part. Staying on the account is the job.
Anyone can show you logos. The reason to buy here is what happens on install night, and on the ticket you open nine months later.
- 01
Build your quote list
Add services and companies as you shop. No form stands between you and the shelf.
- 02
We bring back real options
A person shops the bench against your addresses, then walks you through what fits and what does not.
- 03
We handle the order and install
Paperwork, site survey, install dates, cutover night. You get one thread, not five vendors.
- 04
We stay on your account
Same team for moves, adds, tickets and the next renewal. That is the part everyone else drops.
