NTT Data - Cloud Communications Division

Available through IT Raven

  • Unified Communications
  • Contact Center and CX

This division of NTT DATA provides the phone service behind Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex and Zoom, and runs contact centers for global companies. NTT DATA is a global IT services group.

Its position is unusual. It is a carrier with its own global voice network, and it also advises, implements and runs the collaboration and contact center software that sits on top. The company says it has delivered cloud voice services for 21 years and that its network carries over 11.9 billion voice minutes each year.

Best for

  • Companies standardized on Microsoft Teams that want outside calling added without installing and running their own equipment.
  • Multinationals that want to replace local phone carriers in many countries with one provider, and have emergency calling rules handled for them.
  • Organizations running Genesys Cloud, Webex Contact Center or NICE CXone that want one firm to operate it day to day.
  • Contact center leaders early in a transformation who want a structured assessment before they commit to technology.
  • Companies that want to extend Teams calling to mobile and frontline staff under one number and one contract.
  • Buyers who prefer to start with a light level of managed support and step up later.

A company with one office and a handful of phones does not need a global carrier. See Cloud Phone Systems for simpler options.

What they offer

Cloud Phone Systems. Cloud Voice connects your phone system, contact center or collaboration platform to the public telephone network. For Microsoft Teams, NTT DATA is an Operator Connect provider, which means calling is switched on and managed from inside the Teams admin center. For Cisco, Cloud Connect for Webex Calling brings its calling plans into Webex, and the company is a Cisco Gold partner. It also sells Zoom Phone. Bring Your Own Number lets you register numbers from another carrier on its network. Add-ons include texting for Teams, Webex and Zoom, an attendant console for receptionists, and compliance recording for Teams.

Contact Center. Cloud Voice for CX is a voice service for cloud or on-premises contact centers. Managed Customer Experience is full operation of your contact center environment by NTT DATA. Two workshop-based assessments, one for contact center maturity and one for automation readiness, come before the technology for buyers who want a plan first.

Managed services. Managed Employee Experience runs your collaboration tools for you in tiers that start with an Essentials level, and there is a managed service for meeting room equipment.

Proof

NTT DATA states a 99.99 percent uptime service level agreement for Cloud Voice for CX, supported by a service desk that works around the clock. It is a Microsoft Operator Connect provider and a Cisco Gold partner.

Its own comparison of the two ways to add calling to Teams says that Operator Connect is typically live within a week of being selected in the portal, while Direct Routing takes three to six months for an organization of more than 1,000 users.

These figures are NTT DATA's own. The case studies available for this page name their customers, so none are used here.

Good to know

  • Country coverage varies by product, and the company's fact sheets give different counts for it. Ask for the current list for the specific service and the specific countries you need.
  • Cloud Voice for Business is delivered over another company's carrier network, Nuwave, which connects directly to Microsoft.
  • Texting for Teams, Webex and Zoom has a minimum purchase of 25 licenses.
  • Older documents carry the NTT Ltd. name. That business is now part of NTT DATA.
  • Some 2024 material still cites survey data from 2021. Treat market statistics in the collateral with care.

How buying works

The store is the easy part. Staying on the account is the job.

Anyone can show you logos. The reason to buy here is what happens on install night, and on the ticket you open nine months later.

  1. 01

    Build your quote list

Add services and companies as you shop. No form stands between you and the shelf.

  2. 02

    We bring back real options

A person shops the bench against your addresses, then walks you through what fits and what does not.

  3. 03

We handle the order and install

Paperwork, site survey, install dates, cutover night. You get one thread, not five vendors.

  4. 04

    We stay on your account

Same team for moves, adds, tickets and the next renewal. That is the part everyone else drops.
