Arelion is a Tier 1 internet backbone operator that owns and runs one of the world's most connected global fiber networks. Tier 1 means it does not buy transit from anyone else to reach the global internet: it is one of the networks the rest of the internet connects to. Arelion states it operates about 76,000 kilometers of optical fiber across North America, Europe and Asia, with more than 350 points of presence in 120 cities, and that 70 percent of global internet routes connect directly to its network, known by the identifier AS1299. It says it grew organically on its own infrastructure rather than by acquisition, and serves the world's largest network operators, content and cloud providers, and enterprises that treat connectivity as business-critical. It is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden.

Business Connectivity. IP Transit delivers full internet reach from the AS1299 backbone, with bandwidths from 10 Mbps to more than 1 Tbps. Dedicated Internet Access provides a guaranteed, symmetrical connection for a single site. Ethernet gives point-to-point and multipoint private links between locations. Waves, based on DWDM optical transport, provide dedicated high-capacity wavelengths between data centers. A Cloud Connect service sets up a direct, private path into public cloud platforms.

- Because Arelion is a backbone operator, many enterprise deployments reach it over a local access tail from another provider. It states a large network of access partners for that last mile. Confirm how your site would connect to the backbone.
