Expedient is a cloud and data center company that runs private cloud, disaster recovery and colocation from its own data centers in the United States. It manages workloads wherever they fit best: on your premises, in its VMware or Nutanix private cloud, in its colocation space, or in AWS, Azure and Google Cloud.

The company argues openly against putting everything into a single public cloud, and its services are built for the business that will run a mix. Its data centers are tied together by a private multi-gigabit network with direct connections into the large public clouds. More recently it has added an AI platform for companies that want to give staff governed access to AI tools.

Best for

  • Companies with a ten-year-old IT estate and critical older applications that would be costly or risky to rewrite for a public cloud, and that want a VMware or Nutanix path instead.
  • IT teams already skilled in VMware or Nutanix that want to keep those tools and that experience inside a managed cloud.
  • Businesses with plants, stores, clinics or warehouses that need computing on site, because latency, bandwidth or rules keep the data from leaving.
  • Organizations that report under HIPAA, HITECH, PCI DSS or SOC standards.
  • Companies whose employees already use public AI chat tools, and that need single sign-on, audit logs and governance before they let it spread.

Less of a fit if you intend to run everything in one public cloud with your own team. Expedient's whole case is the opposite.

What they offer

Cloud and IaaS. Expedient Private Cloud runs on hardware dedicated to a single customer, with no pooled resources, on either VMware or Nutanix. Enterprise Cloud Native is a managed Kubernetes platform for teams building newer applications. Hyperscale CTRL is a managed service for AWS, Azure and Google Cloud that puts discovery, migration, ongoing management and security under one invoice.

Colocation. Space for your own equipment in Expedient data centers, where the company states that every infrastructure component is built with N+1 or 2N redundancy, plus a connection into its cloud and its public cloud on-ramps. Markets named for cloud and colocation include Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Columbus, Baltimore, Boston, Indianapolis, Memphis and Phoenix.

Backup and Disaster Recovery. Push Button Disaster Recovery fails your workloads over to a second environment without changing IP addresses or DNS records. It comes in two tiers, covered below. There is a separate recovery service for Nutanix environments and a managed backup service that covers Windows and Linux servers, common databases and Microsoft 365.

Beyond the core. Expedient Edge is a compact, fully managed cluster for remote sites. Security CTRL is its own managed security suite, built on defining what should be running and what may talk to what. Cloud File Storage replaces file servers at each site with one file system reachable from anywhere. The AI CTRL platform has three parts: a Secure AI Gateway that gives employees controlled access to several public AI models behind single sign-on, a catalog of prebuilt agent workflows, and an AI Data Connector that the company says links to more than 30 business data sources.

Proof

Expedient states a 100 percent uptime service level agreement across its cloud, disaster recovery and colocation lines, and around-the-clock support from its own Operations Support Center. Across most of its product sheets it states compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, SOC 1, SOC 2, SOC 3, PCI DSS and CSA.

Its 2026 AI platform brief reports results from unnamed customers. A rental agency made repairs 30 percent faster using AI-guided troubleshooting. A financial services firm cut a compliance review cycle by 40 to 50 percent. A technology provider doubled its output of proposal responses. These figures are Expedient's own.

Good to know

  • The public cloud services, including discovery, migration, management and cloud security, are delivered jointly with Aptum, another company on this shelf. Ask who does which part.
  • The two disaster recovery tiers differ in ways that matter on the day. Push Button Disaster Recovery guarantees dedicated resources, lets you use the standby capacity for other work, and includes testing after launch. Push Button DR On Demand guarantees none of those three.
  • An Edge cluster starts at three nodes, for high availability, and is described as simple enough for non-IT staff to install.
  • The AI platform runs as a dedicated instance on Expedient's private cloud and is not a shared service.
  • Expedient's documents count its data centers differently depending on their date. Ask for the current list in your market before you plan around a location.

How buying works

The store is the easy part. Staying on the account is the job.

Anyone can show you logos. The reason to buy here is what happens on install night, and on the ticket you open nine months later.

  1. 01

    Build your quote list

Add services and companies as you shop. No form stands between you and the shelf.

  2. 02

    We bring back real options

A person shops the bench against your addresses, then walks you through what fits and what does not.

  3. 03

We handle the order and install

Paperwork, site survey, install dates, cutover night. You get one thread, not five vendors.

  4. 04

    We stay on your account

Same team for moves, adds, tickets and the next renewal. That is the part everyone else drops.
