For2Fi sells internet service over cellular networks, delivered through a router it supplies and manages for you. It calls itself a managed mobility service provider. The connection can be a site's main internet or the backup that takes over when the wired line fails.

The managing is the product. For2Fi watches the cellular signal at your site so the backup is there when you need it, warns you as you approach your data allowance, and can move you to a larger plan in the middle of a month. Service runs on the large United States and Canadian carriers, on Cradlepoint and Digi hardware.

It has added neighbors to that core: replacement for analog phone lines, panic buttons for hotel staff, sensors for commercial kitchens and digital signs.

Best for

  • Shops, restaurants and hotels that cannot take card payments when the internet is down.
  • Medical offices and schools that need records and systems reachable through an outage.
  • Sites with no good wired option, and temporary sites such as events and construction offices.
  • Businesses whose phones run over the internet and drop calls when the main line fails.
  • Buildings with fax machines, elevator phones and alarm panels still on analog lines.
  • Hotels adopting staff safety devices under the hotel industry's 5-Star Promise or local rules.
  • Traveling staff who need a mobile hotspot on a shared data plan.

What they offer

Business Connectivity. Managed cellular internet as a primary or backup connection, on 4G and 5G, with plans sold month to month or on flexible terms. For2POTS replaces analog lines for fax, elevator and alarm use. Its eight-port gateway has a built-in battery that For2Fi says keeps lines working for up to 24 hours without power.

Managed Mobility. Oversight of the device and the data plan: signal alerts, usage alerts at 75, 90 and 100 percent of the plan, and plan changes mid-month. Hotspot plans for travelers pool data across users.

Outside those shelves, For2Fi offers a panic button platform with push-to-talk and room-level location from Bluetooth beacons, wireless temperature and humidity sensors for food storage, and digital signage bundled with its connectivity.

The catalog also lists For2Fi under Managed IT. The documents available for this page do not describe that service. For background on cellular backup and failover, see Wireless and IoT Connectivity.

Proof

For2Fi states support around the clock for all orders and a full replacement warranty on managed devices. It describes its analog line replacement hardware as UL listed.

Its customer stories withhold the names.

A regional financial services firm. Its headquarters depended on a single fiber line, and an outage stopped work. For2Fi supplied routers configured in advance that switch to wireless automatically when the fiber fails.

A large hospital network. Fire alarms, security systems and elevator phones still ran on copper lines. The network used For2Fi's line replacement as a backup while it moved to internet calling and fiber.

These accounts are For2Fi's own. The documents give no company size, headquarters or founding date.

Good to know

  • For2Fi resells carrier networks and other makers' hardware. What you buy from it is the management and the support. Ask which carrier would serve each of your sites.
  • The Cradlepoint L950 adapter requires a static IP address, per its sheet.
  • The hotel panic button beacons are installed by the customer and run on AA batteries for about two years.
  • Several of its analog line replacement sheets are written for resellers and were not used for this page.

How buying works

The store is the easy part. Staying on the account is the job.

Anyone can show you logos. The reason to buy here is what happens on install night, and on the ticket you open nine months later.

  1. 01

    Build your quote list

Add services and companies as you shop. No form stands between you and the shelf.

  2. 02

    We bring back real options

A person shops the bench against your addresses, then walks you through what fits and what does not.

  3. 03

We handle the order and install

Paperwork, site survey, install dates, cutover night. You get one thread, not five vendors.

  4. 04

    We stay on your account

Same team for moves, adds, tickets and the next renewal. That is the part everyone else drops.
