KDDI is a Japanese global telecom carrier whose Telehouse brand runs carrier-dense colocation data centers on a network it owns worldwide. Two things are worth understanding. KDDI Corporation is one of the largest telecom carriers in the world, a Japanese company with a roughly 70-year history, tens of millions of customers, and a global network that includes its own subsea cables. Telehouse is its data center business, which operates colocation facilities in major markets that it positions as heavily interconnected, meaning many carriers and networks meet inside them. Because the same parent owns the network and the buildings, a customer can put equipment in a Telehouse facility and reach KDDI's global connectivity from it. For a buyer, KDDI and Telehouse together offer colocation in well-connected buildings backed by a global carrier.
Best for
- Companies that need colocation in a carrier-dense, well-connected data center, where many networks are available to choose from inside the building.
- Organizations with a presence in or traffic to Asia that want a data center partner backed by a major Japanese carrier's global network.
- Businesses that need a second site for disaster recovery in a secure, staffed facility.
- Buyers who want colocation and international connectivity from the same parent company rather than stitching them together.
A small deployment with no need for dense interconnection or international reach can be served more simply elsewhere. Telehouse's strength is connectivity and global backing.
What they offer
Colocation. Telehouse operates colocation data centers in major markets, positioned as among the most connected in their cities, with many carriers and networks meeting inside them and internet-exchange peering available. On-site technical staff and certified engineers handle equipment and remote hands, and disaster recovery space is part of the offering.
Business Connectivity. KDDI's global network, including its own subsea cable systems, provides international connectivity that customers can reach directly from a Telehouse facility.
Cloud and IaaS. Support for hybrid and multi-cloud strategies, connecting colocated infrastructure to public cloud platforms.

Proof
This story comes from Telehouse's own published, anonymized case study.
A large European bank. Following an acquisition, it needed reliable, secure data center space and a disaster recovery site to keep operations running if its primary site went down, with the uptime that its financial end-customers demand. It moved to Telehouse colocation and disaster recovery in Staten Island, New York. The case study reports the bank runs about 100 cabinets there, maintained around the clock by on-site certified engineers, with a disaster recovery site in place so staff operations can continue through a disruption.
Good to know
- KDDI and Telehouse are the same group: KDDI is the carrier and parent, Telehouse is the data center brand. A quote may come under either name.
- Telehouse's pitch is interconnection. Confirm which specific carriers and cloud on-ramps are live in the exact building you would use.
- Figures here are the company's own material.

How buying works
The store is the easy part. Staying on the account is the job.
Anyone can show you logos. The reason to buy here is what happens on install night, and on the ticket you open nine months later.
- 01
Build your quote list
Add services and companies as you shop. No form stands between you and the shelf.
- 02
We bring back real options
A person shops the bench against your addresses, then walks you through what fits and what does not.
- 03
We handle the order and install
Paperwork, site survey, install dates, cutover night. You get one thread, not five vendors.
- 04
We stay on your account
Same team for moves, adds, tickets and the next renewal. That is the part everyone else drops.
