LightEdge runs its own data centers and sells colocation, private cloud and security from them, mainly to organizations in regulated industries. It counts eleven purpose-built facilities across the United States.
Two things set it apart from a space and power landlord. It staffs its buildings with engineers who will run things for you, and it has built its compliance paperwork into a product: a customer can inherit part of its audit evidence instead of producing everything alone. It also keeps older platforms alive, hosting IBM i and AIX systems.
Best for
- Organizations bound by HIPAA, HITRUST, PCI or federal security frameworks that want a host already audited against them.
- Companies running IBM i or AIX that want hosting and disaster recovery without leaving the platform.
- Enterprises with demanding or AI workloads that need computing dedicated to them alone.
- Businesses moving part of their VMware estate to AWS while keeping the rest where it is.
- Buyers with servers that cannot be virtualized and still need a disaster recovery plan.
- Companies that want cloud hardware on their own premises, managed by someone else.
What they offer
Colocation. A single rack up to a dedicated cage, in facilities with redundant power, cooling and network, several carriers and remote hands. Its facility list names Des Moines and Austin, with two sites each, plus Lenexa, Omaha, Kansas City, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Diego and Raleigh. A separate sheet describes a data center in Minnesota.
Cloud and IaaS. A broad set. Nutanix Dedicated Cloud and Bare Metal Cloud give one customer its own hardware. LightEdge Cloud is a shared platform built for compliance-minded users. Edge Cloud places LightEdge's managed cloud hardware at your site. IBM i Cloud hosts Power systems, and an on-net link ties those systems to AWS. Cloud Recovery is disaster recovery sold at three levels of management. LightEdge also manages AWS environments and migrates VMware workloads to AWS.
Managed Security. A cloud firewall that replaces hardware at your site, managed firewalls built on Fortinet with load balancing on Citrix NetScaler, and a compliance service that includes time with LightEdge's Chief Security Officer.
It also offers managed backup, including backup for Microsoft 365, with three years of retention as the standard.

Coverage
- Mexico
- US (Nationwide)
Coverage is a starting point. We check every address before we quote it.
Proof
- Its facility sheets list SOC 1, 2 and 3 reports, ISO 27001, ISO 20000-1, ISO 22301, HITRUST, HIPAA and PCI DSS.
- Across the estate it counts 12.6 megawatts of critical IT load and 362,000 square feet.
- It calls itself a Premier AWS Partner, a Fortinet expert partner and an IBM Delivery Partner, and says its IBM i team has 120 years of combined experience.
These are LightEdge's own statements. Its customer stories all name the customer, so none is used here.
Good to know
- Its documents describe its age two ways: 25 years in business, and nearly three decades. The facility lists differ slightly from sheet to sheet too. Ask for the current list.
- The brief on connecting IBM systems to AWS credits a company called Connectria in its text while carrying LightEdge's contact details. Ask who delivers that service.
- Edge Cloud is sold on a standard three year term, with other terms available on request.
- The IBM on AWS service supports IBM i releases 7.2 through 7.4. Older releases need an upgrade first, which LightEdge offers to help with.
- Most of these documents are dated October and November 2024.

How buying works
The store is the easy part. Staying on the account is the job.
Anyone can show you logos. The reason to buy here is what happens on install night, and on the ticket you open nine months later.
- 01
Build your quote list
Add services and companies as you shop. No form stands between you and the shelf.
- 02
We bring back real options
A person shops the bench against your addresses, then walks you through what fits and what does not.
- 03
We handle the order and install
Paperwork, site survey, install dates, cutover night. You get one thread, not five vendors.
- 04
We stay on your account
Same team for moves, adds, tickets and the next renewal. That is the part everyone else drops.
