Zoom is a communications software company, built first on video, whose cloud platform covers meetings, phone, chat, webinars and rooms. Most buyers know Zoom for video meetings, but for the store the relevant part is Zoom Phone, a full cloud phone system that runs in the same app as the meetings and chat people already use. That single-app model is Zoom's pitch: one place for a call, a video meeting, a message and a meeting-room system, managed from one admin portal. Zoom is a software company, not a network operator, so a deployment still needs internet connectivity underneath it and, for calling, a way to connect to the public phone network. Founded in 2011, Zoom is publicly traded and headquartered in San Jose, California, and states that around half a million businesses use it.
Best for
- Companies already standardized on Zoom for meetings that want their phone system in the same app rather than a separate one.
- Distributed and remote teams that want calling, video, chat and meeting rooms unified so people move between them without switching tools.
- Organizations replacing an on-premises PBX that want a cloud phone system with familiar apps for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android.
- Businesses that run frequent webinars or large virtual events and want them on the same platform as everyday meetings.
A company that needs a heavily customized or carrier-grade telephony setup should check Zoom Phone's features against those needs, since Zoom leads with simplicity and the unified app.
What they offer
Cloud Phone Systems. Zoom Phone is a cloud PBX with the traditional business calling features, run from a central administration portal, that makes and receives calls over WiFi, cellular data or cellular voice from one app for video, voice, chat and meetings. Around it sits the wider Zoom platform: Meetings, Team Chat, Video Webinars, Zoom Events, and Zoom Rooms with a Conference Room Connector for existing meeting-room hardware. The apps run on Windows, macOS, iOS and Android.

Contact Center
Good to know
- Zoom is the software layer. You still need internet connectivity, and for calling either Zoom's own calling plans or a connection to the public phone network, which the store can quote as Business Connectivity or through SIP.
- The catalog also lists Zoom under contact center. The collateral used for this page did not cover Zoom's contact center product, so ask for current detail before relying on it.
- Zoom publishes security guidance for locking down meetings and a security white paper. If security configuration matters to you, ask for the current version.
- Figures and product details here are the company's own, some from 2020 to 2022 material, so confirm current specifications.

How buying works
The store is the easy part. Staying on the account is the job.
Anyone can show you logos. The reason to buy here is what happens on install night, and on the ticket you open nine months later.
- 01
Build your quote list
Add services and companies as you shop. No form stands between you and the shelf.
- 02
We bring back real options
A person shops the bench against your addresses, then walks you through what fits and what does not.
- 03
We handle the order and install
Paperwork, site survey, install dates, cutover night. You get one thread, not five vendors.
- 04
We stay on your account
Same team for moves, adds, tickets and the next renewal. That is the part everyone else drops.
