GTT runs a global internet backbone and sells managed networking and security on top of it to multinational companies. It says it connects and secures more than 140,000 customer locations in over 170 countries.
The backbone is the asset. GTT owns and operates what it describes as one of the top Tier 1 networks, the class of network that forms the core of the internet. It reaches more than 260 cities on six continents. On that foundation it sells internet access, SD-WAN, firewalls and cloud connections as managed services under the Envision name: EnvisionCORE is the network, EnvisionEDGE is one device at your site that runs several functions as software, and EnvisionDX is the portal where you see and change it all.
Best for
- Multinational companies that want one provider for connectivity and network security across many countries.
- Manufacturers with plants and warehouses in several regions, and retailers with stores worldwide.
- Content companies, carriers and cloud providers that need large amounts of internet capacity.
- Organizations whose staff now work from anywhere and whose office firewalls no longer cover them.
- Enterprises that want to consolidate many national phone carriers into one.
- IT teams that want the provider to run the network while they keep control of routing and firewall rules.
What they offer
Business Connectivity. Dedicated internet access on GTT's own backbone, which supports the older and newer internet addressing schemes side by side. Cloud Connect links to public clouds from more than 55 colocation sites. A 5G internet service is available in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific. GTT also offers SIP trunking with numbers in more than 55 countries.
SD-WAN and SASE. Managed SD-WAN across private lines, broadband and wireless, with automatic failover. Secure Connect is its SASE service, combining firewall, web gateway, cloud application control and zero trust access, built with one vendor or two.
Managed Security. Managed Firewall in three tiers: Standard, which you run yourself, Premium, which GTT manages, and Enterprise, which adds monitoring by its security operations center. Managed detection and response with monitoring around the clock, and DDoS mitigation.
Managed IT. The catalog lists GTT here. The documents describe the EnvisionDX portal and professional services for network projects, and no broader IT management.

Proof
- GTT lists SOC, CREST, ISO and ITIL certifications, and describes its Managed Firewall service as ISO, SOC 2 and PCI certified.
- It says it runs 10 DDoS scrubbing centers and mitigates one million attacks a month.
- It holds cloud connection accreditations from Google, Microsoft Azure and AWS.
- It says it was among the first networks of its class to deploy a standard called RPKI, which authenticates internet route announcements and blocks hijacked routes.
These are GTT's own statements. Its customer stories all name the customer, so none is used here.
Good to know
- The SD-WAN and security technology comes from other makers. Its SASE sheet names HPE Aruba, Fortinet and VMware for SD-WAN, and Fortinet and Palo Alto Networks for security. Ask which a quote is built on.
- GTT reaches sites off its own network through other carriers' internet access and private network connections. Ask who delivers the last mile at each location.
- Co-management is supported: you can keep control of routing and firewall policy changes.
- Expect named roles on a large project, from a program manager to a customer incident manager.
- The documents give no headquarters, founding date or size for the company.

How buying works
The store is the easy part. Staying on the account is the job.
Anyone can show you logos. The reason to buy here is what happens on install night, and on the ticket you open nine months later.
- 01
Build your quote list
Add services and companies as you shop. No form stands between you and the shelf.
- 02
We bring back real options
A person shops the bench against your addresses, then walks you through what fits and what does not.
- 03
We handle the order and install
Paperwork, site survey, install dates, cutover night. You get one thread, not five vendors.
- 04
We stay on your account
Same team for moves, adds, tickets and the next renewal. That is the part everyone else drops.
