Momentum is a communications provider that sells global business internet and Microsoft Teams calling as managed services on one bill. Its company overview counts 23 years in business and more than 600 employees.

It sorts its products into three groups. Connect is networking: internet access, managed networks and wireless. Collaborate is voice, most of it built around Microsoft Teams. Engage is the recording, reporting and contact center tooling that sits on top of Teams. Microsoft is the common thread. Momentum says it has been a Microsoft partner for more than 15 years, and that few companies hold its two Microsoft roles at once: Operator Connect provider for Teams calling and ExpressRoute partner for private connections into Azure.

Best for

  • Multi-site companies that want one vendor, one invoice and one dashboard for internet access across many countries.
  • Organizations standardizing on Microsoft Teams that want it to be the phone system and the contact center too.
  • Defense contractors that need Teams calling inside a GCC High environment.
  • Sites with elevator phones, fire alarms and other equipment still running on copper lines.
  • Remote or temporary locations that need wireless or satellite internet without a wired build.
  • Companies keeping an existing phone system that want to modernize the lines behind it.

What they offer

Business Connectivity. Internet access with service in more than 200 countries, a managed network service, and 5G fixed wireless that can use Starlink at remote sites. A managed LAN service covers switches, wireless and the circuits behind them. Momentum also sells private connections into Azure, AWS and Google Cloud.

SD-WAN and SASE. Momentum Navigator, an SD-WAN service built on Juniper Mist, and managed firewalls built on Juniper SRX.

Cloud Phone Systems. Microsoft Teams Phone through Operator Connect or Direct Routing, a Teams calling deployment for GCC High, and a cloud voice service that works with Webex and Teams. SIP trunks for existing phone systems from Avaya, Cisco, Mitel and others. CloudLine replaces copper lines with managed LTE and 5G hardware.

Contact Center. Add-ons that turn Teams into a contact center: call queues and auto attendants, an attendant console, call recording, call analytics, texting and fax.

The catalog also lists Momentum under Cloud and IaaS and Colocation. The documents available for this page describe connections into cloud platforms. They describe no hosting or data center space of Momentum's own.

Proof

  • Momentum says its network is interconnected with more than 750 carriers and service providers, and that more than 30,000 enterprise locations rely on it.
  • It counts more than 600,000 collaboration users and more than 50,000 Microsoft Teams users.
  • The GCC High calling service carries a 99.99 percent uptime guarantee and support at any hour.
  • CloudLine equipment is UL 60950-1 listed and PTCRB certified. Momentum says it operates as a managed facilities-based voice network and that its LTE service is approved by the local authorities who sign off on alarm and elevator lines.
  • Call recording uses 256-bit AES encryption, with audit logs it describes as compliant with HIPAA and PCI-DSS.

These figures are Momentum's own. Its customer stories name the customer, so none is used here.

Good to know

  • Momentum calls itself a network aggregator. It sources circuits from many last-mile providers and puts them on one bill, so the circuit at a given site may belong to another carrier.
  • Juniper technology sits under the SD-WAN, managed LAN and firewall services, and the managed LAN service is available on select Juniper hardware only. The attendant console is the Landis product.
  • In GCC and GCC High environments, its datasheet says, Teams calling can only be added through Direct Routing.
  • Operator Connect can be self-managed or fully managed by Momentum.
  • The documents use three names: Momentum, Momentum Telecom and Momentum Communications. Most carry no date.

How buying works

The store is the easy part. Staying on the account is the job.

Anyone can show you logos. The reason to buy here is what happens on install night, and on the ticket you open nine months later.

  1. 01

    Build your quote list

Add services and companies as you shop. No form stands between you and the shelf.

  2. 02

    We bring back real options

A person shops the bench against your addresses, then walks you through what fits and what does not.

  3. 03

We handle the order and install

Paperwork, site survey, install dates, cutover night. You get one thread, not five vendors.

  4. 04

    We stay on your account

Same team for moves, adds, tickets and the next renewal. That is the part everyone else drops.
