Sangoma is a publicly traded communications company that builds its own cloud, hybrid and on-premises business phone platforms. Its distinguishing trait is that the products are developed in-house rather than resold, and it runs voice over its own private network backbone rather than the open internet. That gives a buyer an unusual range of choices in one vendor: a pure-cloud phone system, a hybrid one that keeps working locally if the internet drops, or an on-premises system, all with the same feature set. Around the phone system it adds a contact center, video meetings, SIP trunking, fax, managed networking and SD-WAN. Sangoma states more than 40 years in communications and trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange and Nasdaq. It states 99.999 percent uptime across its cloud platforms.
Best for
- Companies choosing a business phone system that want one vendor able to offer pure cloud, hybrid or on-premises rather than forcing a single model.
- Multi-location businesses that want every phone to work as one system, with extension dialing, transfers, ring groups and call queues across sites.
- Organizations that need voice to keep working during an internet outage, since the hybrid option adds local survivability and failover over 4G LTE or copper lines.
- Buyers who want the phone system, a contact center and the network under one provider.
A company that only wants a handful of desk phones from a simple app-based provider may find Sangoma's platform range broader than it needs.
What they offer
Cloud Phone Systems. Three unified communications platforms built in-house: Business Voice, a pure-cloud system with no hardware run over Sangoma's private backbone; a hybrid option with local survivability; and Switchvox, available on-premises or in the cloud. Video meetings, cloud fax and SIP trunking extend the same platform, and voice runs over Sangoma's own network rather than the public internet.
Contact Center. A contact center as a service that layers customer-contact routing and handling onto the voice platform.
Business Connectivity. Managed network services and 5G connectivity, so the network under the phones comes from the same provider.
SD-WAN and SASE. Managed SD-WAN to connect and prioritize traffic across sites, which matters most where voice quality depends on the network.

Good to know
- Sangoma runs voice over its own private backbone, which it presents as the reason for its reliability claims. Confirm how a site reaches that backbone and what happens to voice if the local connection fails.
- The hybrid platform is the one to ask about if keeping phones running through an internet outage matters, since it adds local survivability and failover paths.
- Product names and figures here are the company's own, from 2025 material.

How buying works
The store is the easy part. Staying on the account is the job.
Anyone can show you logos. The reason to buy here is what happens on install night, and on the ticket you open nine months later.
- 01
Build your quote list
Add services and companies as you shop. No form stands between you and the shelf.
- 02
We bring back real options
A person shops the bench against your addresses, then walks you through what fits and what does not.
- 03
We handle the order and install
Paperwork, site survey, install dates, cutover night. You get one thread, not five vendors.
- 04
We stay on your account
Same team for moves, adds, tickets and the next renewal. That is the part everyone else drops.
