Spectrotel is an aggregator. It builds a company's network, security and phone service from other providers' products and manages the result as one service. It draws on more than 300 carriers and technology firms, and says it has been in business more than 25 years.

You get one contract, one invoice, one portal and one support team based in the United States, whatever sits underneath. Spectrotel calls this the Power of One. Its own contribution is design, installation and monitoring, including a platform it built to watch customer networks end to end.

Best for

  • Companies with many locations that are tired of managing separate carriers, invoices and vendors.
  • Retail chains with hundreds of sites that need internet, SD-WAN and phones rolled out by one vendor with on-site installation.
  • Businesses with analog lines serving alarms, elevators, fax machines and payment terminals, in regulated fields especially.
  • Employers with hundreds or thousands of mobile devices and a workforce that turns over quickly.
  • Small IT teams that want to hand off daily network and security operations.
  • Organizations leaving MPLS that want to keep their existing firewalls or public IP addresses.

What they offer

Business Connectivity. Internet over fiber, Ethernet, cable and wireless from partner networks nationwide. Wireless WAN on 4G and 5G as a primary link or a backup, with backup bundles it says can be running in as little as 24 hours. Replacement of analog lines using either its own box or the Ooma AirDial, built to fire alarm and elevator code standards.

SD-WAN and SASE. Secure One-Box SD-WAN, powered by Fortinet, puts routing and security in one device. Its SASE service is powered by Cato Networks, with Spectrotel managing the last mile and support.

Managed Security. Managed firewall, and managed endpoint detection and response built on Fortinet.

Managed IT. Managed Network Services monitors SD-WAN, security and other network devices through its Network Intelligence Center. Managed Mobility covers staging and shipping devices, help desk, inventory and retirement. An add-on called AI Power Reboot restarts failed equipment remotely.

Cloud Phone Systems. Cloud phone and contact center service powered by 8x8.

The catalog also lists Spectrotel under Cloud and IaaS. The documents available for this page do not describe such a service.

Coverage is a starting point. We check every address before we quote it.

Proof

Spectrotel says it is the only company partnered with all four of the largest cable providers. Its phone platform, from 8x8, carries a 99.999 percent uptime commitment on some plans.

Its customer stories withhold the names.

A national automotive retailer with more than 450 stores. It needed to combine its internet and phone services and had failed a card security scan. Spectrotel installed firewalls, separated the card terminals from the rest of the network and helped it pass.

A retail chain with more than 700 locations. It replaced its mobility vendor for a large tablet rollout. Spectrotel delivered 5,000 devices in six months.

A litigation firm with 100 attorneys in 10 offices. Its private network lacked real SD-WAN, and it wanted to keep its own block of public IP addresses. Spectrotel supplied SD-WAN that kept the addresses, along with a cloud phone system.

These accounts are Spectrotel's own.

Good to know

  • Nearly everything is another company's technology under Spectrotel's management: Fortinet, Cato Networks, 8x8, Ooma and the carriers. Ask which sits under each service and what happens if one of them changes terms.
  • Monitoring equipment that Spectrotel did not supply requires a call with one of its solution architects first.
  • The remote reboot add-on works only with equipment Spectrotel provided and installed.
  • The documents give no headquarters or company size.

How buying works

The store is the easy part. Staying on the account is the job.

Anyone can show you logos. The reason to buy here is what happens on install night, and on the ticket you open nine months later.

  1. 01

    Build your quote list

Add services and companies as you shop. No form stands between you and the shelf.

  2. 02

    We bring back real options

A person shops the bench against your addresses, then walks you through what fits and what does not.

  3. 03

We handle the order and install

Paperwork, site survey, install dates, cutover night. You get one thread, not five vendors.

  4. 04

    We stay on your account

Same team for moves, adds, tickets and the next renewal. That is the part everyone else drops.
