Spectrum Business is the business arm of Charter Communications and sells internet, private networking, voice and managed network services nationwide. Documents from 2020 to 2022 call it Spectrum Enterprise, and the 2025 documents use Spectrum Business.

It owns the network it sells on, which its Ethernet brief puts at more than 230,000 fiber route miles. That makes it a direct source for fiber internet and private lines at business addresses across the country. On top of the network it has built managed services using other makers' equipment, so one provider can supply the circuit, the firewall, the Wi-Fi and the phones at a site.

Best for

  • Multi-site organizations moving to an SD-WAN network that want the circuits and the managed equipment from one provider.
  • Single sites that need high-capacity, low-delay internet with protection against attacks.
  • Businesses that need a connection quickly, a temporary one, or a second path for backup. Its wireless internet service covers these.
  • Shops running point of sale and inventory systems that want connectivity and security in one product.
  • Companies with workloads in the large public clouds that want a private path to them.
  • Offices that want a managed phone service delivered over the same provider's fiber.

What they offer

Business Connectivity. Dedicated Fiber Internet with symmetrical speeds up to 100 gigabits per second. Secure Dedicated Fiber Internet, which adds managed security. Enterprise Internet for branch offices. Wireless Internet on 5G and 4G. Ethernet Services between sites at up to 100 gigabits per second, with a project manager assigned for installation. Cloud Connect, a private link to AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud and IBM Cloud.

SD-WAN and SASE and Managed Security. Managed Network Edge, built on Cisco Meraki, combines the connection, equipment and management, and can add SD-WAN, firewalls, Wi-Fi, switches and cameras. Enterprise Network Edge is a separate product powered by Fortinet. DDoS Protection is powered by Radware.

Cloud Phone Systems. Unified Communications with Webex, a managed cloud phone and meetings service. Spectrum Business Connect with RingCentral, an all-in-one calling, messaging and video app. Enterprise Trunking connects an existing phone system by SIP, PRI or analog lines, scales from eight call paths to thousands, and supports Microsoft Teams.

The catalog also lists this supplier under Cloud and IaaS. The documents describe private connections to clouds and no cloud hosting of its own.

Proof

  • A 100 percent uptime commitment applies to five products: the two dedicated fiber internet services, Ethernet, Cloud Connect and trunking.
  • Enterprise Internet carries a 99.9 percent uptime commitment and a six hour average time to restore service.
  • DDoS Protection is stated to move from detection to automatic mitigation in two minutes or less.
  • Its SIP trunks carry SIPconnect certification for compatibility with leading phone systems.

These are the company's own statements. Its customer stories all name the customer, so none is used here.

Good to know

  • The uptime commitment is not the same on every product. Check the one that applies to the service you are buying, and how far into your building it extends.
  • Much of the managed layer is other companies' technology: Cisco Meraki, Fortinet, Radware, Webex and RingCentral.
  • Two phone products overlap. The Webex service and the RingCentral service are separate lines with different requirements. Ask which fits.
  • A 2020 brief describes an older fiber internet product with a lower availability figure than the 2025 sheets. Use the newer documents.
  • Availability depends on the address. Ask whether yours is on the company's own network or would be reached through another carrier.

How buying works

The store is the easy part. Staying on the account is the job.

Anyone can show you logos. The reason to buy here is what happens on install night, and on the ticket you open nine months later.

  1. 01

    Build your quote list

Add services and companies as you shop. No form stands between you and the shelf.

  2. 02

    We bring back real options

A person shops the bench against your addresses, then walks you through what fits and what does not.

  3. 03

We handle the order and install

Paperwork, site survey, install dates, cutover night. You get one thread, not five vendors.

  4. 04

    We stay on your account

Same team for moves, adds, tickets and the next renewal. That is the part everyone else drops.
